As the name of this course suggests, the GCE O Level Preparatory Course aims to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to help them do well in this internationally recognised examination set by the University of Cambridge.
Students from many Commonwealth countries usually sit for this examination at the end of Secondary 4. The results students attain are used by many colleges and institutes of higher learning as an admission requirement.
Students have to take five subjects for the O levels examination: English, Mother Tongue, Elementary Mathematics, Principal of Accounts, and Combined Science (Physics & Chemistry). Students may choose additional subjects like Combined Humanities (History & Social Studies), English Literature. Depending on whether the student wants to enter polytechnic or junior college, students need to do 5 or 6 subjects respectively.
The O level examination is usually held from July to November. The oral examination usually takes place in July and August while the written papers are in October and November. In preparation for the Science Practical Examination in October, our students need to attend Science Practical lessons in a Science laboratory during the course. The results will be announced in January or February the following year.
Students enrolled for this course will take the examination as a private candidate. As almost all the examinable subjects are in English, students who did not learn English as a first language may encounter some difficulties in this examination.
All content covered in the various subjects is based on the syllabus laid down by the Ministry of Education in Singapore.
Pre-requisites
All students must take a proficiency test to show that his or her proficiency level in English is at least at Lower Secondary level. Otherwise, he or she must undergo our full-time intensive Preparatory Course (English only) before another assessment is made.
The student must have completed a national middle school and be at least 15 to be able to take the GCE ‘O’ Level Examination.

Our one year full-time intensive O Level Preparatory Course runs from Mondays to Fridays from 10am-5pm.
COURSE FEES
1) Per application Registration Fee (non-refundable) is S$500. It is inclusive of school sponsorship and Student Pass application and excludes student pass fee payable to ICA. Renewal of student pass is S$250 excluding student pass renewal fee payable to ICA. Registration fee for Singaporean / SPR / Dependent Pass holders is S$250.

4) O Level Examination Fees is ~ S$120 per subject registered, payable prior to examination registration in March.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is it necessary to prepare for the O level examinations?
Yes. As students will have to take a number of subjects and undertake the examinations, it is crucial adequate preparation is done before the actual examination. Moreover, all subjects (except Mother Tongue & Higher Chinese) are in English and students who do not speak English as their first language will need time to improve their English and get used to understanding the facts and concepts in the other subjects in English.
2. Who accredits the GCE O level examination?
It is accredited by the University of Cambridge International Examinations. You may visit http://www.cie.org.uk/ to find out more.
3. When is the O level examination?
The examination lasts for a few months. The non-written component of the various subjects like oral and practical occurs from July to October. The written components of the subjects take place from September to November.
4. When must I register for the O level examination?
Students are required to register for the O level examination by March the same year they will be taking their examination.
5. Where is the examination held?
As you will be registered as a private candidate, the Ministry of Education will usually arrange for you to sit your examination at an examination near your education centre or home. Details of the actual venue will be provided nearer the date of the examination.
6. How many subjects must I take during the O level examination?
All students will be advised on what subjects to take based on the requirements laid down by the Ministry of Education and Cambridge.
Students who are eligible and intend to study in a junior college must take 6 subjects. Otherwise, taking 5 subjects will suffice.
7. Who can sit for the O level examination?
You must be at least aged 15 during the year you are sitting for the examination.
You should have at least the English standard of a Lower Secondary level in Singapore. All students will be given a test to evaluate their standard of English upon their arrival. If a student needs more time to improve their English, he or she will be advised to take an intensive English Preparatory Course.
8. Why should I take the O level examination?
As the GCE O level is an internationally recognized examination, the results you get can be used to enter most colleges or pre-university institutions. Students who have completed the O level examination in Singapore have a variety of options. They may further their studies at a junior college, polytechnic, institute of education or enter a pre-university institution. After studying in Singapore for several years, foreign students may be given an option of being a Permanent Resident of Singapore. In other words, doing well in the O level examination is a stepping stone for you to a brighter future.
9. How will I know my results?
The results of the O level examination will be released about 2 months after the entire examination is over. The Ministry of Education will usually announce the actual date of release a few days in advance. The date of release will be reported in the news. In addition, students will also be informed of their results via mail to their Singapore residence.
10. What should I do after my O level examination?
This depends on the results you get for the examination. You will have more options of what kind of education you wish to pursue if you do well. Our staff will be present to advise students on their options they have after they have received their results.
To qualify for enrolment into a junior college, a student must be at least 16 years old and not more than 19 years old. If a student is older than the age allowed, they should enroll into a polytechnic or institute of technical education after getting their O level results.
11. How do I register for this Course?
You can register for the Course by filling up the Course application form and signing a Student Contract.
12. Do I require a student visa?
For courses longer than one month, the student is required have a valid visa or student pass. It is compulsory to apply for a student visa for this course. Our Centre offers student pass application for students who require this service.
13. Do you provide services like airport transfer, arrangement of accommodation or guardian services for students?
