Lower Sec English Tuition

Students will be allowed time to learn and practice their English through listening, speaking, reading and writing. They will also be taught Composition & Situational Writing, Comprehension & Summary and Oral Skills. All these skills are essential and are taught so as to prepare all our students for the O level eventually.

Lessons will alternate between composition writing, situational writing and comprehension (with summary). Lessons on oral skills will be taught nearer the date of the students’ examination. All written work will be marked, graded and feedback will be given on how to help the student do better

Composition & Situational Writing:

Students will be introduced to the ways of writing narrative and descriptive essays. They will be taught structure, vocabulary and ways to write creatively. In addition, they will learn the different formats of writing letters and reports as well as skills of how to be expressive and persuasive in their writing.

Comprehension & Summary:

Students will be introduced to comprehension passages and questions that require them to paraphrase their answers. They will also be taught how to interpret questions and search for answers from the passage. For summary writing, students will be shown how to look for the main points and structure and pen a summary.

Oral Skills:

As students have moved from Primary to Secondary, they are expected to read longer texts and be more engaging during the picture description and dialogue components of this examination. Students will be taught how to read a given text with diction and expression. They will also be demonstrated techniques of how to describe and interpret a given picture or photograph. Students will also learn how to engage in conversation confidently, coherently and fluently.
